Horror - You Have To Watch This: Midnight Beating

This looks fantastic.  Midnight Beating (aka Midnight Heart) starring Simon Yam, the plot revolves around a missing patient at a 'haunted' hospital, and looks downright spooky to say the least.  It will hit Chinese cinemas on Christmas Eve.
But I want it now!

And don't worry if you're one of those people who just can't be bothered with reading subtitles, this movie has no speaking parts - relying instead on sights and sounds to freak you out!

Horror - Cold Fish

Don't know what this is about, or even if it's a horror or yakuza, but I know I've got to see it

Horror - Jewelery

Stuck for what to buy Grannie or Mum this Christmas.  This beautiful Human Centipede necklace will have them all gasping down at the bingo hall.

Crafted from sterling silver, with an eye-catching anus-to-mouth stitched-up motif, this is one Christmas present that won't be pushed to the back of a drawer on Boxing Day.

Horror - He's Dead, and Loving It

R.I.P. Leslie Nielsen.

Sorry to see him go.

Trailer for new film Outcast starring James Nesbitt.

Looking forward to it.

Horror - Exorcismus

Trailer for Brit horror Exoercismus, out 14th Febuary 2011 (romantic)

The story of a 15 year old girl who begins experiencing fits and psychotic episodes (well, she is a teenager), is there a rational medical explanation or something more sinister?
Starring Doug Bradley of Hellraiser and from the producers of Rec, this has the potential to be an effective horror, but with so many exorcism films already having done the rounds lets hope it's not too derivative.

Horror - Face

Today, another trip to Korea for a little 'face' time

She was regarded by many fans as the queen of Hammer Horror films.
The star's death comes weeks after film-maker Roy Ward Baker, who directed Pitt in The Vampire Lovers, died at the age of 93.

Horror - Original Movie Posters

Mutants was thoroughly enjoyable.  Fast paced, gory, and suspenseful.  Another example of why you should never believe the reviews, and always make your own mind up.

Can't wait till payday, have found this little baby for sale!
Terry Thomas in a horror film?
Oh yes.
Soon I will either run out of wall space, or my wife will run out of patience.

Edit - Well, I went and bought it, as someone at work was threatening to.  Just waiting for the ring of the postman now.  It's always twice, isn't it?

Horror - Mutants

Right, if I can stay awake after the kids have gone to school, I shall be watching French zombie film Mutants(2009. David Morley)

Looks good, but has terrible reviews.  If it's half as good as La Horde though I'll be happy.
Everyone who enjoys zombie movies should watch La Horde.  Starting out as exciting crime flick, where a quartet of cops' plan to wipe out a gang of drug dealers goes quickly awry.  It then turns into a battle for survival, as the tower block they have infiltrated becomes a stronghold against an ever-growing zombie horde, and the cops and gangsters must team up to get out alive.
One of my top horror films of 2010.

Horror - Satanic Killings

Are you a murder investigator who is secretly ashamed of your inability to spot the signs of a Satanic ritual killing? Fear not: this gentleman will help you spot subtle signs like inverted pentagrams gouged into the victim's torso
How anybody gets away with Satanic slayings these days is a mystery, with this guy on the case.

Horror - Fright Night

David Tennant stars as Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowell's character in the original) with Colin Farrell, in the remake of the 1985 Fright Night.  The plot remains the same, with a boy discovering a vampire has moved in next door and enlists the help of showman Vincent to help him destroy it.
Generally, I am against remakes - but this was one they might even improve.
27/05/11 - I've just watched the trailer, and the original looks to be the better one.

Horror - The Raven

John Cusack to play Edgar Allen Poe in new film The Raven, showing the fictional final days of Poe chasing a serial killer who copies the slayings in Poe's books (?)
Nice 'tache tho.

Horror - The Walking Dead Season 2

Anyone enjoying  TheWalking Dead on FX will be pleased to learn Frank Darabont will  be returning to direct season two, unfortuntely it won't air until October 2011!

Horror - Martyrs Re-make

The LA Times is reporting that the producers of MARTYRS have signed up director Daniel Stamm (THE LAST EXORCISM) to remake the popular French torture film for an American audience.
What with Hollywood remaking Fright Night, Hellraiser and  The Thing at the moment it just makes me wonder why can't they leave well enough alone?

Horror - Bring back classic horror to the BBC

Take time to sign the petition to bring great horror films back to the BBC schedules.

The campaign was recently featured on BBC's Points Of View and gains support daily.
Maybe with the BBC making the excellent Mark Gatiss' The History of Horror, they'll get the message there is a large audience for it.

Horror - Jack Brooks : Monster Slayer

This afternoon's movie matinee is Jack Brooks Monster Slayer, a silly bit of low-budget blood and guts starring Trevor Matthews and Robert Englund (chewing the scenery).
It's fairly short but as this seems to be the first in a series, it could well turn into a nice little gory franchise.
Just don't take it at all seriously!

Horror - Frostbitten

Last night's viewing was Frostbitten (2006).  A Swedish vampire movie that's alot of fun.  Not as well directed  or as original as 2008's Let The Right One In, it is still a thoroughly enjoyable flick that throws everything into the mix - from Nazis, demonic pets, teens & drugs to mad scientists.

Recommended.

Horror - Fear Itself

Right, time to put the little demons to bed and put on an episode of Fear Itself.

I've had this series for ages now, and only ever bothered to watch one episode.

If anyone's interested they can watch full episodes for free here....

I really should get out more.

Horror - The Season of the Witch

Now this could be great, after all it has Ron Perlman in it...

But then, it does  have Nicolas Cage in it too.... hmmm

Horror - The Resident

Christopher Lee returns to Hammer films in new film The Resident

Starring Hilary Swank and Sir Christopher Lee, and directed by Antii Jokinen, it is a Hitchcock-style psychological thriller set in NYC.

Go to the brilliant Hammer Films for details

Horror - Michael Pualus

Anyone interested in art, anatomy, cartoons or the just plain gruesome should check out Michael Paulus' lovely skeletal cartoons.

Horror - The Dark Hour

Well, as expected Paranormal Activity 2 was a complete wash-out.  Dreadful.

I'm expecting better from my next watch.....

Horror - Quality Asian Horror

The Guard Post was very atmospheric, with some decent jumps throughout.  Well acted and directed.  Korea seems to be catching up with the Japanese with the quality of their horror cinema; with Thirst, A Tale of Two Sisters and Memento Mori to name but three, which seem a little deeper than the 'Girl with long hair who you catch in your peripheral vision' type of flick that Japanese cinema seems so intent on churning out.
I enjoyed Ring-0 and Ju-On, but would rather watch a Takashi Miike than another ghost girl film.
Anyway, tonight I shall be watching Paranormal Activity 2.  Hopefully it will be better than the first.
Followed by FX's The Walking Dead.

Looking forward to it....
